  • A Tale of Persistence.

Our local department store had a pair of Doc Marten® sandals for sale that I had my eye on since before Christmas.  But I am the type of girl that never pays full retail for anything and $129.00 for a pair of sandals was more than I was willing to spend.   So I decided to wait it out, sooner or later those shoes would have to go on sale.  I waited and watched.  Watched and waited.  Seems every other shoe in that store would go on sale, except the pair I wanted.

I was starting to get nervous, it had been over 3 months and I was losing faith.  I already envisioned myself on my road cruise, climbing mountains and fetching wood in my new sandals.  And I knew the good Doc made them just for me.  They have a little flower cut out on the top for a lovely foot flower tan, and thick, ass-kicking soles.

    *Bouncing Soles®*

So, after over 3 months of waiting and watching my shoes I say to myself......FUCK IT JoAnn!  Go in and pay full price for the shoes and take them home, they're yours.  The good Doc made them special for you, and you deserve them.

When I got to the store all of the shoes were on sale again.  All of the shoes except for my pair, of course. I didn't care, I was taking my shoes home today.  I asked the clerk to get me a size 5 of the sandal.  She came back and said that the display shoe was the last one in the store and that it was a size 5.

Perfect.  They fit perfect.  I have the last pair in the store and they fit perfectly.....I am indeed Cinderella.....but my Prince.....my Prince, where is he when it comes time to paying?

    ~GONE~
    there is NO Prince!

I whined to the store clerk about my shoes never being on sale and waiting months.  She seemed unconcerned and only wanted her commish.  I gave her the sale.

    SURPRISE!

When she scanned the shoes into her register they came up priced at $36.89!  WOO FREAKING HOO!  Jesus Loves Me indeed and best of all.....

    I WIN AGAIN!

  • That's always nice. To turn around the screw on the screwer. Something like that.

  • And the moral of the story is.....PERSISTENCE PAYS!

    $ Ka-Ching $

  • Way to go!  Those shoes must have been made especially for you.

  • You got the good price because they're baby shoes. Size five.

  • ARGH!!! I'm so jealous!~  I went to the mall last night with my sister so she could buy some new shoes, and saw those Doc Martin sandles and absolutely knew those were the sandles I wanted.  My current sandles are 3 yrs old now and the soles have worn through to show the holes in the way the soles are constructed.  Time for new sandles for certain.  But I flipped them over and ever stinking pair of sandles I looked at were $110+.  I should even be thinking about buying a $40 pair of shoes, let alone a $110 pair.  I left... sure of what I wanted and sure I couldn't have them.  I'm so glad someone out there got a greal deal on those shoes.  I don't understand why they cost so much to begin with.  Life really must have understood that those shoes belonged to you!

  • Lovely shoes, my dear....Yes, it's spring! Yay!

I haven't made up my mind about vacation. Maybe Florida, maybe at home in the garden...

  • Love it when a good plan comes together

  • That is so cool girl......I'm telling you.....the first pair of Docs I got....my former husband bought for me.....and I cussed him up one side and down the other for spending 150 on a pair of boots....UNTIL I put them on......and now I know why people are willing to pay 150 for Docs......THEY ARE WORTH IT....I got a pair of clogs on sale for 60 and thought I was in heaven...so for less than 50....you got it goin on.....you'll love'm......

  • They look so comfortable.  You're the second girl in two days that I've seen putting a photo of her shoes on Xanga.  Hey--I wanna see some feet

  • oooohhh love the shoes..must have...Not sure I would have your patience at waiting for the 'sale'.  My sister is the same why however, she scopes out the mall and waits and waits for what she wants to go on sale, and since she is this unbelieveabley small size, her size is always left when it does go on sale.

  • 36 for a pair of docs? eeghads! Cheapest I have gotten is 60 bucks for used boots! I love 'em but to hell if I will pay over 100 for a pair of shoes! Good deal!:)
