I could've written the comments you left me myself. I know what you mean about being all fucked up in the head. The voices scream that fellow humans are treating animals this way and it nearly drives me insane. My shelter is 50% pit bulls. The pits we get are the losers (the winners never wind up at our shelter) and it breaks my heart. So I give them love and feed them by hand and get more jaded and hardened with each story I hear. But when you said I come out the same - I don't. Every dog's background hurts me to the core.
I had a snake when I was in jr high. Feeding her fish was so hard. I know where you're coming from. Oh, I sooo know. But like you said, the circle of life. Your lizard doesn't have the choice to be vegetarian. So don't feel badly. If birds didn't eat bugs, we'd be desperately overrun by mosquitos and flies. Circle of life.
I can't comment to the pigs across the road from you. I read Charlotte's Web on the day my mother my mother made pork chops, and well... let's just say the tears did flow.
I think you are wonderful and I am so glad I found you, via Lucky, via Mitch. Keep collecting pets because they are lucky to be taken care of by you.
