  • Yippee Skippee!  I rocked out the henna tattoos at the Alto Fair today!  Alto, the only little town in Wisconsin, that I know of, that does NOT have a bar in it!  Crazy, I know!  If you have never been to Wisconsin then you should know, bars are a staple at every corner, turn and unincorporated town.  The town I spent my H.S. years in had a population of under 500 and 10 operating bars, not to include the 2 bars that were operating, 1/2 mile from town, down a dead end road, where the train went through!

Alto is populated with strict Hollanders and one wouldn't think henna would be a hit, but it is!  I have to admit, I spice up my act quite a bit while working this fair.  Tribal make-up, bridal bindis, tikas, headress, and funky costumes along with pounds of jewelry.  I love to get those stares!   You know the stares where they try not to be obvious that they are staring at you but they couldn't be more obvious. hehe

Bonus Prize!  A reporter for a little, local paper came around my booth today and snapped a heap of shots and took a bunch of info from me regarding my art.  Woo Hoo!  I am going to be in the paper again.  I am turning into quite a celebrity around these parts.  Please stand in line for an authograph!  hehe......somebody slap me!

Last week was a pretty good week too at the Green Lake Fair.  Holly helped me Saturday and Sunday.  We slept in Itzy Bitzy Saturday night, quite uncomfortably but it was memorable.   She even did several henna tatoos herself so she was able to make a little $moola$ too.  Just remember girl, I AM THE BOSS!  Also, you forgot your barbie head for learning hair wraps so.....punishment for you awaits!

It's supposed to maybe rain tomorrow.  Not conducive to good business so.....I'm torn because we certainly could use the rain.  For the gardens, lawns and animals but I could certainly use the GREEN for eBay purchases and my much anticipated and planned for garage/shed/man's domain.

I leave you with 2 more fresh garden produce recipes, for cucumbers:

    Cuke recipe #1
    Pick all ripe cucumbers.
Keep 4 for these recipes or more and give about 25 away.

Peel cukes, or do stripes, leaving alternating peelings on 1/2 of cuke.
slice cukes into coins, thin, thick, whatever
soak in salt water for several hours or overnight
    drain
mix vinegar (white, apple cider, or balsamic enough to cover cukes) and a bunch of sugar* together in seperate bowl.
    *until it tastes yummy.
    add cukes and toss gently
    let soak for an hourish
    Eat and Enjoy!

    Cuke recipe #2
Do the same as above except add sliced onions to the mix.
after soaking in salt water for a few hours, drain.
Mix several tbsp. of Miracle Whip and Sour Cream together in seperate bowl
add a few tsp. sugar, not much
    fresh ground pepper to taste
add cukes and gently toss together
    leave sit for an hourish.
    Eat and Enjoy!

    BE WELL.

P.S.  Please send Marian your love.  I know her pain well.  Friday my little brother Bill would have had his 36th birthday.  It still hurts and I miss him every second of every day.  He was killed in 1991 and I am still not over it.....I suspect I never will be....but I march on, I have to.

P.S.S.  Mombo sliced his left rear paw/pad open 2 Sundays ago, which required an overnight stay at the vet, several stitches and over $200 for repair.  BASTARD!  He is always injuring himself and I am convinced he just likes to get doped up at the vet's office.  Also Jinxy, Franny Banany's cat has been MIA for almost 3 weeks now.  She was looking and acting pretty ill so I made a vet appointment for her but she never came back.    RIP Jinxy and give Franny my love.   I miss you.

  • Woo-hoo!  I wish I was there to see you all dressed up!  Get one newspaper for me to keep, I will have you autograph it.

"Quite uncomfortably but it was memorable."  Oh how we can start the grapevine about us.  Hehe!

The second recipe was Heather's favorite.  She always asked Grandma to make some then eventually learned how to make them herself.

You are so right there, the pain will never go away.  Heather will be 36 next month too, on the 21st.  See what I mean JoAnn?  You and I have so many coincidences, our sibling would be the age if they were alive.  Bill's birthday is on the 12th and move the numbers around...you get 21.  He died one day before my 18th birthday.  He died on the year of my graduation.  I can go on and on about the coincidences, but I will not.

I am truly sorry about Jinxy.  Animals seem to know when it is their time.

    Much much much to you!

P.S.  Of course, I will be helping you this weekend and with the next fair.  I didn't have time to respond your e-mail this morning.  I will try my best to get you what you need.  I will start my search today.

  • Oh, I can't wait to hear what my punishment is... hehe!

  • "would be 36"  Gosh, I sometime talk like she is still alive.  Grrr!

  • Hey girl!  I've missed you!

Glad to hear the fair went so well.
