  • MY, WHAT A BIG PRICK YOU ARE!

I'm late, a bit behind, and where in the world am I now?  I AM HOME.  What?  It went a little something like this.....

It was hot in Tucson, I had hugged several cactus and made friends with many little lizards, but I had not found time to read any of my books, paint, or do much of anything creative.  My henna turned to shit in the heat and if you can believe this, not a damn place I stopped at had henna, except for one store, but it was henna hair coloring and they had never heard of painting on the body with henna.  I thought that was nuts, considering all the sun in Tucson and all.

So on Friday, as we were packing up camp and loading all the stuff in the car, AGAIN, and the heat was starting to scorch, I thought how wonderful it would be to be home.  But, I had plans, and I could not cancel now, so I let that thought slip away.  Then, about halfway to Phoenix, I thought about home again and said to the BIG Guy "BIG Guy, what if you were to cancel your flight and race back to Wisconsin with me instead?"

The BIG Guy said he did not care so....a brand new, spontaneous adventure was underway, and not a real fun one I might add.  Non-stop driving, with a napping section in the back of the Subaru for the co-pilot.  Two complete sections of two different interstates in Albequerque, NM were closed.  Shut.  Re-routed.  Almost 2 hours of standstill traffic as the interstates were rerouted through a residential area of the city.  I have never experienced congestion like that in my life.  How fucked up could that be?

On the bright side I did get to see the BIG cross in Groom, Texas at night.  What a truly beautiful, yet strangely eerie site!  I did stop 2 years back and visit during the day, but the illumination of that cross at night was so much better.  Unfortunately my pics of the cross at night did not turn out.

Regardless, the truth is, I was tired of living out of my car and packing up my crap for the umpteenth time.  Tired of seeing all the digging, For Sale signs, and sub-division hells being planned.  Tired of reading the rules at every place I stayed, telling me what I can and cannot do.  Mombo was really tired and miserable in the heat too.  He was growling at anyone that even looked at him.  Not to mention, I was already stressed about going out to LA with my dog and having to fight traffic and plastic peeps and ugh.....what I really wanted to do was plant some flowers.  I love flowers!!!

So.....I arrived home very early Sunday morning, just in time for Mother's Day cheer.  I made the right decision although, it is freaking cold and rainy here and I have planted nary a flower.  Tomorrow perhaps.  Right now I am just catching up on my naps and doing a fair bit of shopping on Ebay.  I have extra cash now that the vacation is in half so.....yeah, my first purchase was a mayan hammock, big and sturdy enough to fit 5 peeps.  Hmmm.....well I guess I will need to find 2 more peeps to snuggle with in order to test that theory, and I WILL!

Anyway, I am going to take a few mini-adventures this spring and summer.  Also, my friend Guitar Joe is moving up here in June after all.  I'm excited to have a playmate this summer.  I did stop and visit Mammalboy Joe in Missouri on the way home as well.  It has been two years and I only had an hour to spare, but thank you for being there for me Joe.  I love you soooooooooooo much!  Sorry, I didn't get to stay long and that I was so grubby, but you know how it goes!

As for my future plans, I am taking the Summer off, well, perhaps I will work a day or two here or there, but for the most part I will be FREE.  I have also decided that MAY belongs to me, FOREVER.  I hereby claim MAY as mine and plan to for as long as I might live.  I got it like that because I choose it like that, and when we choose things the rest of the Universe just seems to fall into place.  We all got it like that, we DO!

Now....to relax in the hammock and read a book.  Ummmm, well perhaps the hammock will be here tomorrow and then....ahhhhhhhhh.

Dorothy was right......there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!  What a wonderful lesson to learn!

You all take care now and BE WELL.

P.S.  I am saddened that I did not get the chance to meet Katie, and James.  I made plans to visit them both but unfortunately had to cancel.  Next time guys, next time, but please know, you are always welcome here....but everyone knows, no one comes to Wisconsin for vacation except Illinois peeps so, until next time.

  • The important thing is that you are home safe and happy. There will be another time. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

  • True! true! I always went to Wisconsin to vacation when I lived in Illinios! I plan to live there someday- I really think it is one the most beautiful states(that I've been to)  I always joke about the 'instant subdivisions' down here-just add water and !poof! it's scary. I'm glad you had that fabulous trip!

  • welcome home!
